DJ, producer, multi-talented artist Erick Morillo was found dead in his Miami Beach House. Erick Morillo is known for his globally recognized hit ‘I Like To Move It’ which he released under the stage name ‘Reel 2 Real’ in the 90s.
He’s a 3-time winner of the DJ Awards’ Best House DJ and a 3-time winner of Best International DJ … including his most recent win in 2009.
The Colombian-American hitmaker also had his own label called ‘Subliminal Records’ and released many singles under the Armada Music and many other labels too.
Morillo has won the Best International DJ Award 3 times and the Best House DJ Award 3 times and received a total of 15 nominations.
Morillo was booked over 200 times per year and played almost everywhere in the world. Aside from his legendary parties in Ibiza and all of Spain, the DJ was also known to put on wild shows in London, Amsterdam, Madrid, New York City and Belfast, as well as in Russia, Greece and Malta. He was a staple performer and a true inspiration in the house music scene and numerous current executives, leaders, artists and producers in the electronic music industry.
The circumstances surrounding his death are not yet known.
Friends and fans describe Morillo has “troubled,” “complex” and not without his issues, but maintain that his sets were “amazing” and that the late DJ was a true legend. Erick Morillo left an undelible mark on house music; his death is tragic & premature.
