Run The Jewels’ Killer Mike Suffered Shoulder Injury From SXSW Stage Attack
Killer Mike suffered a torn rotator cuff after a man attacked the duo onstage at SXSW last week.
Killer Mike told fans at a Run The Jewels show at South By Southwest over the weekend that he suffered a torn rotator cuff after a man attacked the duo onstage earlier last week.
On Monday (March 16), Killer Mike and El-P’s performance at The Spotify House at SXSW was interrupted when a man rushed the stage and tried to attack the duo. Video of the incident shows Killer Mike and the group’s security quickly fending off the attack and removing the man from the stage.
According to NME, several days later Mike announced the injury and told fans that it won’t stop him from the group’s ongoing tour.
“I flew home to see my doctor,” he said before sharing the news about the shoulder injury at a SXSW show on Friday (March 20). “I was like, ‘Doctor, I’m not leaving the road, the tour goes on!'”
NME also reports that the original attacker claimed that Run The Jewels had lifted his lyrics and was owed money.
